We know that the women and children are the backbone of any society and so, in Loiyangalani we have set up a microloan system to enable the members of the four Women’s groups to borrow tiny amounts of money (by our standards), and at nil interest, to help to fund business initiatives based on traditional skills of beadwork, baking, weaving.

We have also established a youth group and hope to encourage the members to become proactive on all issues affecting the community, including education and health awareness.

With the help of your donation we can provide more microloans and also develop such skills as basic training in bookkeeping so that the women’s businesses have a chance to thrive. Through experience we know that the women’s interests lie in feeding their families and educating their children. This is as close to a failsafe way of helping the community help itself as we have come across!
